Synopsis
Roxanne and David are a young traveling couple embarking on a Pan-American journey from Montreal to Chile, with zero CO₂ emissions. Hitchhiking and cycling, they document the expedition on the social media channels of their blog, Your Wonderland. After many relational upheavals, their adventure ends at the Mexican border. The pressure to succeed as travel influencers and the isolation that follows lead them to confront deep emotional wounds. Five years later, now separated, the two friends wish to reclaim the narrative of this difficult experience. Pieces of reflection revisits this trip by unearthing fragments from the blog’s archives to create an anti-romantic road movie—both introspective and dreamlike—about loneliness in the digital age.

Filmmaker
David Sanchez
It is first through encounters with others during his travels that David learns the principles of sound, image, and editing. In 2020, he undertakes documentary filmmaking training at the Institut national de l’image et du son, where he directs his first short film, Sacrificed, which receives numerous festival awards. He then directs Des Rives, a documentary on the environmental issues surrounding the St. Lawrence River, which travels the world to promote the protection of waterways. While simultaneously pursuing studies in anthropology, he continues to refine his approach, addressing social issues through an intimate lens and ethnographing social movements in a constantly changing world.
